Define a revision round before the edit starts.
“Two rounds included” leaves an important question unanswered: how much work can be inside each round?
A practical scope summary names both the number of consolidated feedback rounds and the time allowance. It also explains how to handle a new script, new footage or changed creative direction. Agree the details with your client before work begins.

Use a time allowance as well as a round count
For a fictional small project, an editor might agree two rounds with up to one hour per round. That is an example, not an industry recommendation. A documentary edit, an ad campaign and a four-clip package can need very different allowances.
One round should mean a single consolidated list from the agreed approver. If several people send conflicting directions, ask them to resolve the conflict before you estimate or apply the change.
Classify the request before discussing a fee
| Situation | Practical next step |
|---|---|
| Your caption has a typo. | Correct your error; track your time without treating it as a paid client extra. |
| The client requests a trim within the agreed direction. | Check the remaining included time and round allowance. |
| The client replaces an approved voiceover. | Estimate the editing impact and discuss scope, price and timing before proceeding. |
| The note says “make it pop.” | Ask for the specific desired change, affected timecodes and a reference. |
Keep one clear approval record
Record the version, date, approver and what was approved. When a later request changes it, refer to that record calmly and propose the next step. A log helps the conversation; it does not guarantee the client will agree or pay.
